Pembroke pulls away from Goffstown

PEMBROKE — Pembroke Academy broke open a close game late in the third to defeat Goffstown 59-45 in Division II boys' basketball action on Friday night.

The Spartans improved to 5-0 while Goffstown fell to 1-4.

After wins by margins of 43 and 54 points, Pembroke might have taken Goffstown lightly. But it didn't take long for the Grizzlies to get their attention.

Goffstown came in with more emotion and energy and disrupted Pembroke's inside game. The Grizzlies were down by just three points with 3:23 remaining in the third quarter when Pembroke managed to pull away.

Pat Welch led the Spartans with 15 points, Dominic Timbas had 13, and Jordan Williams and Max Curran each had 12.

For Gofftown, Tim Comeau led the way with 17 points.
