Londonderry's Simpson nets 1,000th
Londonderry senior Aliza Simpson scored 27 points to go over the 1,000-point mark for her career and lead her team to an 80-34 win at Merrimack on Friday night.
Simpson, who is headed to the University of New Hampshire on a basketball scholarship in the fall, needed 26 points to hit 1,000 and did it with a foul-line jumper in the fourth quarter.
The Lancers improved to 4-0; Merrimack is 0-4.
Manchester Memorial 56, Nashua South 40: Angie Marazzi scored 21 points and Jess Sweetser had 12 rebounds and six steals to lead the Crusaders, who improved to 5-1. Jocelyn Chaput had 10 points for South, which fell to 0-5.
Bedford 65, Nashua North 39: At Bedford, Mckenzie Brown led a balanced attack to help the Bulldogs stay undefeated at 4-0. Haley Driscoll and Nikki Tucci each scored 10 points and all 10 Bedford players scored.
Goffstown 40, Pembroke 31: At Goffstown, Alicia Minnich and Katie Howe each scored 10 points to lead the Grizzlies (3-1). Kaylee Montminy led Pembroke (4-2) with 11 points.
Bow 49, Kearsarge 34: At Bow, Ashlie Tucker had 14 points, and three of her team's 19 steals. Kirsten Brisson contributed 11 points. Bow improved to 5-3 and Kearsarge fell to 2-6.
Alvirne 79, Manchester Memorial 78: At Manchester, the Crusaders stormed back from a 13-point deficit to start the fourth quarter and had the ball with six seconds to go. But they missed a shot and came up just short. Trevon Maughn led Memorial with 34 points, including eight three-pointers. Alex Wetmore led Alvirne (3-2) with 21 points.
The Broncos made it two straight tight wins over Manchester teams. They beat West 71-68 in double overtime on Wednesday.
Nashua North 48, Bedford 46: At Nashua, Jordan Lates had 18 points and Dimitri Jackson sealed the win with a couple of foul shots with five seconds left. The Titans improved to 2-1. Cam Meservey had 14 points and Taylor Grande 13 for the Bulldogs, who fell to 0-4. Bedford has lost its games by 3, 3, 3 and now 2 points.
Londonderry 37, Spaulding 30: At Rochester, the Red Raiders did a nice job of slowing the game down, but Cody Ball's three-pointer with 50 seconds left gave Londonderry a six-point lead and some breathing room. Ball led the 4-0 Lancers with 13 points and Caleb Green had 11. Spaulding is 3-2.
Pelham 68, Windham 52: At Pelham, Ryan Cloutier scored 22 points and Keith Brown 17 to knock Windham from the ranks of the unbeaten. Jack Vaiknoras added 10 points Pelham. Windham is 4-1 and Pelham 3-2. Andrew Lowman had 20 points and David Carbonelli 10 for Windham.
Bishop Guertin 77, Dover 71: At Dover, Kyann Winn scored 34 points and the Green Wave cut a Bishop Guertin lead from 20 to 2. The Cardinals made all 10 of their foul shots in the fourth quarter to hold on and stay unbeaten at 4-0. Costas Niarhos with 15 and Kyle Garvin with 14 led six Cardinals in double figures. C.J. Boykins had 11 points and Jack Zimmerman, Joe Marandola and John Noon each had 10.
Newmarket 45, Moultonborough 44: At Moultonborough, Ryan Jarvis contributed 15 points to lead Newmarket, which upped its record to 3-1. Tristan Price led Moultonborough with 17 points with five treys. The Panthers are 2-2.
Profile 61, Pittsburg-Canaan (Vt.) 36: At Bethlehem, the Patriots broke open a 24-24 game at the half and raced to the win. Shooting guard Ian Baker and point guard Bailey Johnson combined for 45 points for Profile (4-0). Baker had 23 points and nine rebounds. Johnson had 22 points and nine assists. Pittsburg-Canaan fell to 0-3.
The Pinkerton basketball games scheduled for Friday were postponed until today. The girls' varsity game against Trinity of Manchester is set for noon. The boys' varsity game against Winnacunnet of Hampton will be played at 1:30 p.m. . . . The Merrimack at Timberlane boys' basketball was postponed and is tentatively scheduled for Feb. 9 at 5 p.m.
