Bay State man shot in head in Nashua is critical

NASHUA — City police continue to search for the people responsible for a Thursday night shooting that left a Massachusetts man in critical condition, saying they have identified at least one possible suspect.

Police say Danny Vorn, 22, of 42 N. Street in Lowell, Mass., was shot in the head at 8:48 p.m. on Thursday outside of 6 Rochette Ave.

When authorities arrived, they found the victim unconscious and suffering from a single gunshot wound to the back of the head, said Lt. Denis Linehan.

"His condition hasn't changed. He is in critical, but stable condition," Linehan said Friday evening. Vorn was airlifted to Boston Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

Linehan said that witnesses have reported seeing at least two, possibly three males in the area at the time of the crime.

"We have not made any arrests," said Linehan, adding at least one possible suspect has been identified by authorities. The Nashua Police Department is continuing to follow leads on the shooting, and neighbors are cooperating with the investigation, he said.

At least one of the people connected with the shooting is from Nashua, Linehan said. He would not predict when an arrest could take place, but said the shooting is a priority by the department.

"We are certainly doing everything we can to solve this," he said, adding that investigators are still trying to determine why Vorn was in the Gate City.

The shooting does not appear to be random, said Linehan, who said the suspects are associated with the victim.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police at 603-594-3500, or the Nashua Crimeline at 603-589-1669.
