Woodstock officials help residents who are customers of Fred Fuller

WOODSTOCK — Town officials on Thursday facilitated the delivery of two trucks full of home heating oil to residents of Fred Fuller Oil and Propane who said they were out of oil, Town Selectman James Fadden said.

Fuller, one of the state's largest oil companies, has been dogged by statewide delays in oil deliveries in the last week that were compounded by what company officials have said was a company wide telephone outage that saw customers unable to contact the company. The company's attorney said the delivery delays and phone outage amounted to "a perfect storm" of problems, and company officials have said the problems were not because of supplies or company finances and that deliveries should be back to normal by today.

Fadden said more than a dozen town residents came to town offices to complain.

"We just really became aware on Tuesday what a crisis this is becoming in our town," he said.

Gov. Maggie Hassan earlier this week set up a special hotline to help homeowners get oil deliveries. Fadden said town residents knew about the hotline, "but when you learn that you're number 719 on that list, it doesn't make you feel good when your oil barrel is empty."

Fadden said the town's two fire stations were among oil tanks that were nearly empty and filled by deliveries from Foley Oil of Laconia. He said individual homeowners paid for the oil they received.
