Man sentenced to 20 to 60 years in prison for sex assault

MANCHESTER — Hillsborough County Superior Court Judge David Garfunkel on Friday sentenced a city man to 20 to 60 years in state prison after he was convicted of the attempted rape and rape of a local woman.

On Nov. 4, a jury found Armando Lisasuain, 49, guilty of two counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault, one count of attempted aggravated felonious sexual assault and three counts of sexual assault.

Lisasuain befriended the victim’s family in the fall of 2010 after her father died. The victim’s mother let Lisasuain sleep some nights at their home after Lisasuain had no place to stay. On Oct. 23, 2013, Lisasuain sexually assaulted the victim while she was home alone watching TV. He is charged with assaulting her on two other occasions.

Noting Lisasuain’s serious criminal history and the “huge breach of trust” he caused by befriending the family after the victim’s father died, the court imposed the state’s recommended sentence of 20 to 60 years in prison, the Hillsborough County Attorney’s office said in a statement Wednesday. The defense sought a 7 1/2- to 15-year sentence.
