Bridge work over Route 1 Bypass reroutes Portsmouth traffic

New travel patterns are coming with the replacement work of two bridges spanning the Route 1 Bypass in Portsmouth.

Beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, the bridge carrying Islington Street over the Bypass will be closed for replacement. Traffic will be detoured over the new Middle Road bridge for about 10 months. Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time and follow “Islington” detour signs around the work area to reduce the effect to local residential streets.

E.D. Swett, Inc., of Concord, New Hampshire is the prime contractor for the $4.3 million project.

Christie is the real deal

We have found Gov. Chris Christie to be the most consistent, the most confident in his abilities, the most tested under fire, and the most likely to regain the White House from a disastrous Democratic regime.
