Jose Santana-Martinez, 37, of 213 Bell St., Manchester pleaded innocent Tuesday in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division to charges of simple assault, resisting arrest, criminal threatening and disorderly conduct.
Santana-Martinez is accused of grabbing his girlfriend by the back of the head and pushing her onto the bed, threatening to break items in the residence while holding a baseball bat, struggling with an officer who was attempting to escort him downstairs to the transport wagon, yelling and screaming profanities and refusing to stop while being escorted out of the building, and kicking one of the officers in the right shin.
A police prosecutor, noting Santana-Martinez has a deferred sentence on a June 2013 criminal mischief conviction involving the same victim, requested $3,000 cash/surety bail. Among the bail conditions are no contact with his girlfriend and not going to her residence.
Trial was set for Feb. 5.
