MARLBOROUGH — A dump truck and Subaru Forester collided on Route 12 Monday afternoon, trapping a driver, but no one was injured, police Sgt. Joseph Hazelrigg said Monday.
Emergency responders were called to the scene just after 2:30 p.m.
A dump truck driven by William Daniels, 59, of Richmond, was headed south on Route 12 near the Troy town line when Daniels attempted to turn right into a business driveway and collided with a Subaru Forester, driven by James Godfrey, 62, of Fitchburg, Mass. The Subaru was attempting to pass the dump truck on the right.
On contact, the Subaru spun around, ricocheted off a snow bank and came to a rest on the northbound side of the road.
The Subaru had substantial driver side front and back door damage.
“You go up against a dump truck you are not going to win,” Hazelrigg said.
Godfrey was trapped in the Subaru because the door mechanism was crushed. Emergency responders used a crow bar to free Godfrey.
Neither driver was injured.
Godfrey told police he had attempted to pass on the right because the dump truck had its left side blinker on. Daniels told police he had his right side signal on when he attempt the turn right.
Hazelrigg said no one is being cited for the crash.
