MILFORD — At 12:05 a.m. on New Year's Day, Luke Micah Lanctot made his appearance at The Birth Cottage.

The baby weighed 8 pounds, 11 ounces, and was born to Milford couple Jenny and Eli Lanctot, according to Autumn Vergo, a certified professional midwife at the free-standing birth center at 4 Prospect St.

The baby's due date was Christmas Day, "but he decided to delay making his appearance until the new year," Vergo said Wednesday.

"According to his mother, 'Luke is healthy, strong, and a good eater. So far he has slept away most of his first day. What better way is there to spend your first New Year's Day, anyway?'"
