Driver clocked doing 110 mph on I-93

MANCHESTER -- A state trooper on Tuesday arrested a city man clocked going 110 miles per hour on Interstate 93 before swerving lanes in an attempt to evade the officer.

State police arrested John C. Miller, 43, of Manchester and charged him with reckless operation of a motor vehicle.

According to state police, a trooper in a marked cruiser was on patrol around 10:30 a.m. when he observed a vehicle driving at a "recklessly high rate of speed" behind him in the right lane of I-93 southbound, near Exit 6 in Manchester. The trooper clocked the vehicle going 110 mph in a 55 mph zone.

The vehicle passed the cruiser and changed lanes, moving "extremely close" between two other vehicles without slowing, according to police. The car continued to travel 98 mph as it entered the ramp for I-293 north, passing a line of cars in the right travel lane as it rounded a sharp corner, police said. The trooper caught up to the vehicle and was able to pull the driver over.

Miller is due to appear in Manchester District Court on Feb. 10 to answer to the reckless operation charge.

The incident was the second case of an alleged high-speed driver on I-93 in two days. On Dec. 22, a Bedford man was arrested for allegedly driving 115 mph past a state trooper on the highway in the Manchester area.
