Hampton police arrest two women on drug charges

HAMPTON — Two local women were arrested Friday on felony drug charges, after a police investigation into cocaine and heroin trafficking in the area, police said.

Michelle Galloway, 45, of 24 H St., second floor, and Breena Purtell, 39, of 9 G St., unit 3, were arrested after a search-warrant raid of Galloway's home. Police said they seized a "distribution quantity" of heroin and cocaine, as well other drugs and money in the raid.

Purtell was arrested immediately after Galloway; police said they also executed a search warrant on Purtell at the time of her arrest.

Both were charged with conspiracy to distribute a controlled drug.

Police said Galloway has been the focus of an ongoing investigation by Hampton police detectives into the sale of heroin and cocaine in Hampton.

Investigators anticipate filing additional charges on Galloway and Purtell, and at least one other individual.

Purtell was released on her own recognizance and is next due in court on Feb. 12. Galloway was held on $20,000 cash bail at Rockingham County jail.
