Bonneville continues support of Santa Fund

MANCHESTER - Bonneville and Son goes way back as a car dealership, and its support of the New Hampshire Union Leader Santa Fund for the Salvation Army has been a part of its community support for many years.

This year continues the tradition, and the Bonneville and Son, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram dealer at 625 Hooksett Road will be donating a percentage of its vehicle sales to the Santa Fund.

There are no operating expenses or overhead taken out of donations to the Santa Fund. Every penny goes to assist families in need of some help, and the biggest beneficiaries are the children.

There is also never a goal set for the Santa Fund because the idea is for people to share what they can. Through the generosity of the public, businesses and organizations that support it, the Santa Fund also able to help support the Salvation Army Kids Cafe, summer camp programs, holiday meals for seniors and visits to nursing home residents.

General manager John Berry said Bonneville usually donates a percentage of the used-car sales in December, but this year, Edward Bonneville, third-generation owner of the company, has decided to donate a percentage of new-car sales, as well.

Bonneville & Son was the first dealership to support the Santa Fund and has remained steadfast in its support.

"We adopted the Santa Fund," said Berry. "It's a tradition for us."

Bonneville is a part of the community, and Berry said an important part of the company's tradition of service is giving back.

Berry said Bonneville recognizes that many of those who apply for assistance from the Santa Fund are hard-working people who struggle to pay regular monthly bills and don't have "extra" for gifts for the children and special holiday meals.

So if you are in the market for a new or used vehicle, Berry suggests you might consider checking out Bonneville's vehicle supply. You could help the Santa Fund as well as yourself if you find the perfect vehicle.

The generosity of Santa Fund donors makes it possible for the holidays to still be a joyful time. The Santa Fund makes food, clothing and gifts available during the holiday season, so ?nancially stressed families can put their resources toward paying bills for basic needs.

Santa Fund donations may be made by sending a check to the Union Leader Santa Fund, in care of the New Hampshire Union Leader, P.O. Box 9555, Manchester 03108; or by placing a donation in the Santa Fund box in the lobby of the newspaper, at 100 William Loeb Drive, Manchester, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Donations can also be made online at

Every effort is made to promptly publish Santa Fund contributions. Donors who wish to see their contributions listed before Christmas are encouraged to submit them as soon as possible. The Union Leader publishes photos of donors of $1,000 or more.
