Santa has many helpers: Still time for you to be a Claus, too
Do we believe in Santa Claus? Actually, we believe there must be many Santa Clauses, or at least many Santa helpers.
Else how could there be so many donations each year to the Union Leader Santa Fund for the Salvation Army?
We have always believed in Santa. We did not need New York Sun Editor Francis Church's extraordinary letter to Virginia O'Hanlon to convince us. But that letter expressed well the sentiment that Santa lives, "as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy."
Today, we are just three days from Christmas. The need of the Salvation Army here in Manchester remains great, as it does for similar efforts across the state and nation. If you reside outside the Greater Manchester area, there may be an effort close to you that is worthy of your contribution. If not, please feel free to donate to the Santa Fund, at Box 9555, Manchester, N.H., 03108 or online at UnionLeader.com/santafund.
If nothing else, you will be offering further proof, as if more were needed, of the continued existence of the Jolly Old Elf.
