Central girls down Trinity in OT

Manchester Central’s Caitlyn Vincent hit a 3-pointer with 1.9 seconds remaining to force overtime and the Little Green went on to beat Trinity 58-51 on Tuesday at Central’s Simon Gym.

The game, which was the season opener for both teams, was tied 47-47 after regulation and Central outscored Trinity 11-4 in the extra frame.

“It was a great effort in the second half. The girls did a nice job making some adjustments at haltime and we did a better job in second half finishing off shots we were missing in the first half,” Central coach Mike Wenners said. “Trinity is a scrappy team, so it was a nice win.”

Central’s Amanda Gaudreault scored 17 points and Trinity’s Amanda Torres scored a game-high 21 points.Derryfield 42, Wilton-Lyndeborough 39: At Manchester, Hannah Comeau hit a 3-pointer with three seconds remaining in the game to give the hosts the win.

Comeau finished with 14 points on the night and Derryfield improved to 2-1. Wilton-Lyndeborough fell to 0-3. Hannah Nanakaya (seven points, 10 rebounds) and Molly Brady (eight points) chipped in for Derryfield as well. Wilton was led by Ally Schwab with a game-high 21 points. Spaulding 49, Concord 27: At Rochester, Lyndsee Thompson scored 16 points, Emily Benway had 14 and Brit Gentry added nine for the Red Raiders in the win.

Boys’ basketball

Littleton 51, White Mountains 25: Danny Brammer tallied 11 points. Brett Hagan followed with 10 points and Kuba Kubkowski added six points and 12 boards as Littleton (2-0) beat White Mountains on Tuesday night. Host Littleton led 23-12 at halftime. Josh Sweet had seven points for the Division III Spartans (0-2).Hanover 64, Goffstown 60: At Goffstown, Hanover was led by John Flory with 19 points. The Grizzlies were led by Marcus Haynes with 19 points.

Boys’ hockey

Dover 8, Kingswood 1: At Wolfeboro, Dover improved to 2-0-0, led by Cam Crowley’s two goals and three assists. Ben Henderson (two goals, assist) and Mitchell Welch (goal, assist) chipped in for Dover and Luc Ravenelle made 19 saves in the win.

Souhegan 10, Kearsarge 3: At Andover, Mike Belanger had two goals and and assist and Riley Connor added two goals and an assist as well for Souhegan of Amherst in the season opener for both teams. Will Aufranc scored two goals and an assist for Kearsarge of North Sutton.

Trinity 6, Bishop Brady 4: At Everett Arena in Concord, Mitch Myers notched the hat trick to lead the Pioneers (2-0). Cam Brown, Jack Collins and Richard Brewitt added tallies for Trinity. Freshman goalie Curtis Wirbal stopped 16 saves to earn the win. Brady is 0-1.
