NHIAA Roundup: Bow's balance too much for Kearsarge

Kirsten Bresson and Amanda Murray each tallied 10 points to lead defending Division III state champion Bow to a 40-29 girls’ basketball win over Kearsarge of North Sutton Thursday. Bow’s defense was the story, holding the Cougars to seven second-half points.

Bow (2-1), which opened the season with a loss to Bishop Brady of Concord before beating Sanborn of Kingston, battled back from a 22-18 halftime deficit against the Cougars (1-2). Murray grabbed eight rebounds and teammate Maddie Horner had a solid all-around game with seven points, 15 rebounds, and four blocks.

Sunapee 64, Derryfield 38: In Manchester in a Division IV contest, Sydney Clark had 15 points for the Lakers (2-0), who had four players in double figures. Katie Frederick (13 points), Maddy Fowler (11) and Erika Waterman (10) also led Sunapee, which held a 35-20 halftime lead.

The Cougars were led by Hannah Menakaya with 10 points and eight rebounds. Liz Krogman added eight points, five rebounds and four steals. Hannah Comeau contributed seven points and five rebounds for Derryfield (1-1).
