Windsor man seriously hurt in logging truck collision

BENNINGTON — A Windsor man driving a pickup was seriously injured in a collision with a logging truck on Route 202 on Wednesday morning.

Police responded to the scene around 6:30 a.m., police Chief Steve Campbell said in a news release.

The crash is still under investigation, but police believe Christopher Davies, 32, of Windsor was driving a 2003 Ford F-250 truck south on Route 202 when the Ford drifted from the southbound lane into the northbound lane, where it hit a 1998 West Star logging truck driven by William Kimball Jr., 41, of Bennington.

"There is no information at the moment which gives a reason why Davies might have drifted from his lane. However; the road conditions at the time were slick due to recent snow," Campbell wrote.

Due to Davies' injuries, the door to his Ford had to be removed by firefighters, which took about 15 minutes.

Davies was then taken by the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Advanced Response Team helicopter to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon in serious condition.

Kimball was uninjured. The Ford was a total loss. The logging truck had minor damage to wheel area of the driver's side.

Hillsborough and Antrim police assisted Bennington responders at the scene.
