Motorists injured in two car collision on Route 9, Spofford

SPOFFORD — Two motorists were injured in a two car collision on Route 9 Wednesday.

Chesterfield police responded to Route 9 in Spofford at the intersection of Glebe Road and Forestview Drive around 7:06 a.m. Wednesday.

The motorists — Jay D. Jacobs, 52, of Valley Park Drive, Spofford, and Holly A. Champion, 48, of Route 9, Spofford — were taken to Cheshire Medical Center in Keene.

Jacobs, who was driving a 2005 Subaru Impreza reportedly turned off Forestview Drive onto Route 9 when the Subaru pulled into the path of a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by Champion, causing the Subaru to strike the Jeep.

“It is believed at this time that both vehicles were totaled,” Chesterfield police said in a press release Thursday.

Spofford & Chesterfield Fire & Rescue, Hinsdale police and Keene police and fire departments also responded to the scene.

The collision is under investigation, police said Thursday, and no charges have been filed.
