Inmate indicted in 2009 kidnapping, rape of woman
LANCASTER — A 50-year-old Clarksville man who is an inmate at the New Hampshire State Prison in Concord has been indicted by a Coos County Superior Court grand jury on charges of kidnapping, terrorizing and raping a 29-year-old woman over 10 days in August 2009.
Lawrence J. Eldridge III, formerly of 205 Blue Jay Lane in Clarksville, is charged with six felonies: kidnapping, four counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault against the woman, and one count of second-degree assault that accuses him of punching a 7-year-old boy during that same time period.
Eldridge took the woman to Lancaster, Colebrook and “Moose Alley” in Pittsburg. He allegedly kept her locked in his camper, according to the indictments, and bruised the boy — who is not identified in the indictments — when he punched him.
Eldridge began serving two to four years at the state prison in April 2012 following an escape conviction in Merrimack County Superior Court, prison spokesman Jeff Lyons said Thursday.
