Convicted killer seeks new trial by alleging improper relationship between defense counsel, then-prosecutor Kelly Ayotte

A man convicted in 1999 of raping and killing a 6-year-old Hopkinton girl is asking for a new trial, alleging a romantic relationship between then-prosecutor Kelly Ayotte and his defense attorney, Nicholas Brodich, tainted his conviction. Spokesman Jeff Grappone said yesterday that Ayotte, now a U.S. senator, and Brodich “did not interact socially at all
