Angry birds clash

First place in the Northeast-10's Northeast Division will be on the line when Franklin Pierce University hosts 21st-ranked Bentley today at 7:30 p.m.

The Ravens are off to a 10-1 start, 5-1 in the NE-10. The Falcons, losers of two straight games since they were ranked, enters today's contest 7-2 overall and 4-2 in conference action.

On Monday, FPU's Ryen Vilmont was named NE-10 player of the week. He averaged 21.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in two wins. Last Wednesday in a 77-63 win over Southern New Hampshire in Manchester, the junior forward scored 22 points and collected seven boards. Vilmont returned Saturday with a 21 points and 14 rebounds to lead FPC to a 77-73 home win over St. Anselm College. He also had six blocked shots and four assists.

He's averaging 15.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists a game this season. He leads the NE-10 with 34 three-pointers and tops the league with 67 defensive rebounds.

St. Anselm (5-3 overall, 4-2 NE-10) will host Stonehill (3-5, 1-4) today at 7:30 p.m. and SNHU (4-4, 2-4) hits the road to play Assumption (2-8, 1-5) in Worcester, Mass., at 7:30 p.m.

In women's basketball in Rindge today at 5:30 p.m,, former Manchester Central standout and senior point guard Christiana Bakolas will lead Bentley, the number one-ranked team in the USA TODAY Sports/WBCA Division II coaches' poll, against the Ravens.

The Falcons are 9-0 overall and 6-0 in the NE-10. Bakolas is averaging six points, four rebounds and five assists per game. FPC is 4-5 overall and 3-3 in the NE-10 Northeast Division.
