Enfield man killed in hit-and-run in Vermont

KILLINGTON, Vt. — An Enfield, N.H., man is dead and a local man is being held on $25,000 bail accused of leaving the scene of an accident Sunday morning resulting in a death.

Kyle Wilson, 26, of Enfield, died Sunday morning when he was struck by a car at Mountainview and Killington roads. He was walking to the home of some friends when the accident took place.

According to Vermont State Police, Wilson's friends said he called them about 1 a.m. saying he was walking to their home. He never made it and his friends went out to look for him.

They came across his body, according to police.

Investigators later arrested Michael DeBellis, 27, of Killington. Investigators said his car had heavy front-end and passenger-side damage.

DeBellis is charged with felony counts of careless and negligent operation, and leaving the scene of an accident, death resulting.

He is being detained at Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility pending arraignment Monday in Rutland Criminal Court.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information concerning it is asked to call Vermont State Police, Rutland Station, at 802-773-9101.
