Energy-saving program offered today in Nashua

NASHUA – Looking for ways to keep your home warm when the temperature drops? Learn energy-saving tips that help homeowners save energy at a free Seniors Count-Nashua workshop today at the Nashua Senior Activity Center.

Representatives from Southern New Hampshire Services’ Weatherization Program, including Beth Gilbert and Paul Chalifour, will present the workshop.

Also included will be information on home energy audits as a way to identify sources of heating loss in your home.

The Nashua Senior Activity Center is located at 70 Temple St. in Nashua. The program begins at 1 p.m. Call Beth Todgham at 889-3440 ext. 132 for more information.

Workshop participants can come early to enjoy lunch offered by St. Joseph Community Services (Meals on Wheels) in the cafeteria at the Nashua Senior Activity Center. A $2 donation is requested for diners age 60 and older; the price is slightly higher for those under 60. Pre-registration for lunch is required. Call Steve, SJCS site manager, at 882-2106 to reserve your lunch. Lunch is served from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Birch Heights celebrates sparkling Festival of Trees

DERRY — The Festival of Trees at Birch Heights Independent Living Retirement Community will continue through Dec. 14 at 7 Kendall Pond Road in Derry.

Area businesses, medical centers, organizations, home health-care agencies, and individuals have contributed decorated trees with all proceeds going to Toys for Tots.

Raffle tickets to win a tree will be $5 or a donation of an unwrapped toy. The festival open house and tree raffle drawing will be Dec. 14 at Birch Heights from 2 to 4 p.m. Meet Santa and enjoy holiday specialties made by our chef.

Trees can be viewed from Monday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, they can be seen from 9 a.m. to noon and 2 to 5 p.m. Birch Heights is a Toys for Tots drop off center. Call 425-7755 for more details.

Retired Men’s Assoc. Christmas social Dec. 17

MANCHESTER — The New Hampshire Retired Men’s Association will have a Christmas social for current and new members at its meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 17.

A Yankee Swap is planned, and attendees are asked to bring an inexpensive swap gift if they haven’t already done so. Refreshments will be served. The association meets monthly with a social hour and refreshments at 10:30 a.m. followed by the guest speaker from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meetings are held at Catholic Medical Center’s Community Health Services Conference Room on the lower level floor at 195 McGregor St., across the street from Catholic Medical Center in Manchester. It is free and open to all interested men.

Computer tutoring in New London

NEW LONDON — The Kearsarge Area Council on Aging will host computer tutoring with Nick Ourusoff at 37 Pleasant St.

Tutoring will be available Mondays, Dec. 16, 23, and 30 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.; Wednesday, Dec. 18 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.; and Tuesday Dec. 31 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Ourusoff will be available for ½ hour one-on-one tutoring sessions for the beginning computer user to the knowledgeable user who needs collaboration or advice. Learn to use your laptop, tablet or android device for a variety of tasks. Receive help with spreadsheets, email or designing a website.

Christmas fun times at Birch Heights in Derry

DERRY — The Windham Flute Ensemble Concert will perform Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. at Birch Heights Independent Retirement Community Center. RSVP early and enjoy a complimentary supper at 5:15 p.m. Birch Heights, at 7 Kendall Pond Road.

• First Parish Congregational Church Choir will perform at Birch Heights at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15. RSVP early and enjoy lunch at 12:15 p.m. Call 425-7755 for more details.

Alzheimer’s Cafe will be Dec. 11

MANCHESTER — On Dec. 11 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., there will be a free, informal gathering for people with Alzheimer’s or dementia and their loved ones and caregivers at the Currier Museum. Alzheimer’s Cafés provide a safe place to gather and socialize while helping to remove the stigma of a disease that isolates so many people. The Currier provides another delightful layer to the program: access to a world-class collection of art. The Alzheimer’s Café takes place on the second Wednesday of every month from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Plymouth Senior Christmas dinner comes with dancing

PLYMOUTH — Plymouth Regional Senior Center will have its Christmas dinner Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 4 p.m. The center will be closed during the day until 4 p.m. when the doors open for dinner.

Tickets are $5 a person and include appetizers and a buffet dinner with carving station starting at 5 p.m. & music with Tim Keefe. Bring your appetite and dancing shoes to 8 Depot St.

Littleton light tour, concert are Dec. 16

LITTLETON — On Monday, Dec. 16, the Littleton Area Senior Center will take vans around Littleton to see the twinkling lights around town. The vans leave at 5:30 p.m. and return to the center to a concert by The Bell Ringers from Grace Methodist Church in St. Johnsbury, Vt. The concert starts at 7 p.m. Sign up for van tour for $5. Donations for concert are welcomed but not required at the center at 77 Riverglen Lane, Littleton. Call 444-6050 for more information.
