Schools look to use more local foods in student lunches

In New Hampshire during the 2011-12 school year, more than 75 percent of districts that responded to the survey participated in Farm to School activities, which include purchasing local foods, taking field trips to farms and starting school gardens. Nine percent of districts’ food budgets go toward local products, and 21 percent of districts have vegetable gardens, according to the census.
