'Fugitive of the week' arrested in Hooksett

A day after naming him as a "fugitive of the week," U.S. Marshals swooped into a Hooksett garage early Friday morning and arrested Juan Zayas-Diaz, who was working there as a mechanic.

Zayas-Diaz, 59, with a last-known address of Manchester, was arrested without incident. The New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force acted on several tips from the public in locating the fugitive. The arrest warrant was issued for supervised release violations stemming from an original conviction and 15-year federal prison sentence for cocaine sales.

Zayas-Diaz was taken to U.S. District Court in Concord, where he was scheduled to be processed and held pending his first court appearance.

The "Fugitive of the Week" series is published and broadcast on many New Hampshire media outlets, including the New Hampshire Union Leader and Several members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, including officers from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, participated in the investigation and Friday's arrest.

The New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force was established in 2002. Since then, it has netted 5,523 arrests.
