Plymouth Sears will not open on Thanksgiving
The couple, who are co-owners of the Sears store at 742 Tenney Mountain Highway, are defying the requests of their client company, Sears Hometown Stores, said Noel Cassiano.
“We want to enjoy Thanksgiving as a family. To not do so violates my wife’s religious beliefs,” he said.
Cassiano said Sears is planning to run sales all weekend, but the profit he would make selling products on sale is not worth ruining his family’s holiday.
“We’re just a small hometown store,” he said. “The money we make selling whatever we can Thursday night is not worth it. We’d rather be home.”
“It should be like it is in Massachusetts,” he said.
“If the people who want us to work Thursday night will go to work themselves Thursday night — if they’re going to be sitting in their offices — we’ll work,” Cassiano said.
