Retail: Shaw's and Hannaford supermarkets will be open Thursday until 3 p.m. in most locations.
Many retail stores and malls will be opening on Thanksgiving evening. Best Buy will open at 6 p.m., beating the Simon malls — Mall of New Hampshire, Pheasant Lane Mall, Mall at Rockingham Park and Fox Run Mall — which won't open until 8 p.m. The Steeplegate Mall in Concord will also open at 8 p.m. Thursday.
State liquor stores will be closed Thursday, with normal hours Friday. Banks will be closed Thursday, even TD Bank branches in stores, but will be open Friday.
Government: State employees get Thursday and Friday off, as do city employees in Manchester, Concord and Portsmouth, although Manchester's Tax Collector Office will be open Friday.
Federal offices will be open Friday, with one exception: Social Security field offices. All Social Security field offices will be closed to the public. State courts will also be closed, except for arraignment of any detainees in Circuit Court.
Schools: Public schools will be closed Thursday and Friday.
Trash pickup: There will be no Thursday trash pickup in Manchester, Nashua, Concord and Dover, with pickup sliding a day later than usual, except in Portsmouth, where Thursday's trash pickups will be done a day early. In addition, there will be no yard waste pickup Wednesday, Thursday or Friday in Portsmouth.
Mail: There will be no regular mail delivery or counter service Thursday, but the post offices will be functioning normally on Friay. UPS is closed Thursday and will only be doing delivery and pickup of air and international packages Friday. FedEx is closed Thursday, but will have ground and home delivery service Friday.
