Somersworth man charged in Nov. 5 hit and run

ROCHESTER — Police arrested a Somersworth man Thursday in connection with a hit and run along Route 11 earlier this month.

Adam Smith, 26, of 423 Main St., Somersworth, was charged with conduct after an accident and driving after revocation or suspension after he allegedly drove off after striking Bernard Cormier Jr., 44, of New Durham, who was walking along Route 11, Farmington Road, Nov. 5.

Cormier, who was found lying in a grassy area on the westbound travel lane near the Farmington town line, suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. He was flown to Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine.

After receiving a tip, police said they located the pickup involved in the accident.

Following his arrest, Smith was released on $5,000 personal recognizance. He is scheduled to appear for an arraignment Dec. 30.
