Celtics top Hawks to halt six-game skid
ATLANTA -- Brandon Bass led the way with 17 points and visiting Boston used a game-ending 24-6 run to stun Atlanta, 94-87, on Saturday night.
Jordan Crawford made a pair of critical shots down the stretch and the Celtics held the Hawks to 13 fourth-quarter points to halt a six-game losing streak.
Jeff Green had 16 points while Jared Sullinger chipped in 15 and Crawford finished with 12 points and 10 assists.
Al Horford's 18 points paced Atlanta, which was done in by a pair of second-half dry spells en route to its third loss in the last nine games.
Jeff Teague had 13 points and 10 assists while Paul Millsap added 12 points.
Horford and Millsap combined for 20 points on 10-of-16 shooting to lift Atlanta to a 53-49 halftime edge.
Boston rallied to jump ahead in the opening four minutes of the third quarter - aided by the Hawks missing their first eight shots - but Atlanta rebounded, a Teague teardrop from the lane capping an 11-1 stretch that helped craft a 74-64 lead entering the fourth.
Atlanta led by as many as 12 before Boston chipped away at the deficit, drawing to within one on a Courtney Lee foul-line jumper with just over five minutes remaining. Horford responded with a basket from the same spot - ending a string of 10 straight Atlanta misses - and the teams traded leads down the stretch until Crawford converted a finger roll in the lane and rattled home a running jumper with 58 seconds left to put the game away.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Korver extended his streak of games with at least one 3-pointer to 87 with an open jumper from the top of the arc less than two minutes into the game. Korver is just two games shy of equaling Dana Barros' NBA record. ... Celtics F Jared Sullinger was given a flagrant 1 foul midway through the third quarter after knocking Atlanta F DeMarre Carroll to the court on a layup attempt. ... Teague shot 3-of-15 from the field and missed all four of his 3-point attempts.
