Somersworth man tied to hit and run in Rochester

ROCHESTER – Police arrested a Somersworth man Thursday in connection with a hit-and-run accident earlier this month.
Police said Adam Smith, 26, of 423 Main St. in Somersworth, was the driver of a pickup truck involved a Nov. 5 accident which injured Bernard Cormier Jr. 44, of New Durham.
Cormier, who was found lying in a grassy area just off Route 11 (Farmington Road) on the westbound travel lane, sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries. He was flown by helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine.
Police did not specify the charges against Smith, who was released on $5,000 personal recognizance. He is scheduled to appear for an arraignment Dec. 30.
