Manchester driver strikes signs, barriers, police say

BOW — A Manchester man allegedly driving drunk struck a light pole, multiple state signs and concrete barriers along Interstate 89 south Saturday morning, state police said.

Francisco Murillo Velasquez, 24, was charged with driving while intoxicated and conduct after an accident, police said.

Velasquez was driving south on I-89 around 2 a.m. when he veered off the right side of the highway near the Exit 1 on-ramp and struck a light post knocking it to the ground, authorities said. He struck another state sign before veering across the highway, hitting the concrete jersey barriers multiple times, police said. Velasquez then lost control, striking another sign on the Interstate 93 southbound on-ramp, according to police. The vehicle continued down an embankment.

Velasquez agreed to take a blood test at Concord Hospital, where he was later processed and bailed, police said. He will be arraigned in Concord District Division, 6th Circuit Court on Dec. 2.
