Rochester police seeking driver who struck pedestrian

ROCHESTER — Police are looking for the driver who struck and injured a pedestrian along Route 108 Thursday afternoon.

Police, firefighters and emergency personnel responded around 2:10 p.m. after receiving a report of a hit and run along Rochester Hill Road — Route 108 — and Sunset Drive.

Upon arriving, police found and spoke to Tammy Batista, 33, of Rochester, who was struck by a red minivan, driven by a man in a baseball cap, which was traveling west along Sunset Drive. The minivan drove north on Rochester Hill Road, according to police.

Paramedics drove Batista, who sustained a minor leg injury, to Frisbie Memorial Hospital.

Police continue to investigate the matter and encourage any residents with information about the driver or the accident to contact Officer John Harding at 330-7128.
