Communication director appointed for Manchester Diocese

MANCHESTER - Bishop Peter A. Libasci has appointed Thomas P. Bebbington as director of the Office of Communication for the Diocese of Manchester.

As director of the Office of Communication, Bebbington will be responsible for managing and coordinating all strategic and operational communication within the diocese, including overseeing media relations, serving as official spokesman, and supervising the production of weekly electronic newsletters, the New Hampshire Catholic Directory, and Parable, the magazine of the Diocese of Manchester.

In addition, he will assist diocesan parishes, schools, and institutions with communications and public relations. He will report to the Cabinet Secretary for Development and Communication and will work directly with Bishop Libasci to assist him to disseminate his message to Catholics and members of the New Hampshire community.

Bebbington has been with Long Term Care Partners, LLC, in Portsmouth since 2003. Since 2006 he has served as manager, Public and Community Relations. Long Term Care Partners is a division of John Hancock Financial Services. He worked for John Hancock prior to his involvement with Long Term Care Partners.

Since 2002 he has coordinated media relations efforts for elite runners in the Boston Marathon on behalf of John Hancock, the principal sponsor. He handled post-bombing emergency communications via Twitter following the attack in April 2013.

Bebbington graduated cum laude from Saint Anselm College with a bachelor of arts degree in English and earned a master of arts in humanities from the University of Chicago. He is married and has two children. He and his family are members of St. Thomas More Parish in Durham.
