LONDONDERRY — Local musician Josh Logan will continue to shine on the small screen this week despite a near-miss on NBC’s “The Voice” Thursday night.

Logan advanced as one of the top dozen finalists on the program. Although he was voted at the bottom three of the five singers remaining on celebrity coach Christina Aguilera’s team.

Aguilera had other plans and opted for a “coach save” for Logan after the team performance of Maroon 5’s “Love Somebody.” Team members Stephanie Anne Johnson and Olivia Henken weren’t so lucky and were sent packing last week.

Shortly after learning of his most recent victory, Logan, his head freshly shaved under his trademark black fedora, expressed gratitude to his coach and fans, with his mother and teenage son seated in the audience.

“I’m capable of a lot more that America and people haven’t seen yet,” he said.

Aguilera said she had to go “where her heart is invested right now,” before announcing her final selection. “And my heart has to go with Josh.”

Logan removed his hat for an upbeat performance of Gnarls Barkly’s “Crazy” on his acoustic guitar, causing Aguilera to dance in her seat.

He will perform again tonight, with results to be revealed on Tuesday.

The 33-year-old singer, who has performed at various venues around southern New Hampshire over the year, has certainly come a long way since withdrawing from Londonderry High School to support his newborn son.

After earning his GED, Logan supported his family by working in construction until entering the local music scene. His soulful voice and gritty style resonated with audiences, and Logan got an initial shot at stardom in 2006 when he was chosen to compete for the hit CBS television show, “Rockstar: Supernova.”

Though his appearance on the program made him a household name as one of the show’s top 15 contenders, Logan didn’t make the final cut and returned to the Manchester area where he’s been performing before crowded local venues ever since.

On Sunday, a notice was posted on Logan’s website notifying guests that the singer wouldn’t be booking any upcoming appearances at this time as he is “busy with ‘The Voice’ for the foreseeable future.”

Logan said soul legends Stevie Wonder and Otis Redding are among his major influences, and one of his favorite live performances was a Nikka Costa (a former backup singer for Prince) show he’d seen at a concert in Boston last year.
