Henniker waitress' act of kindness rewarded again
CONCORD - Good fortune keeps coming to a New Hampshire waitress whose kind deed for a pair of furloughed National Guard members landed her on the "Ellen" show last month.
After Sarah Hoidahl, 22, a single mom from Henniker, paid the lunch tab for the two women soldiers at Ruby Tuesday, the Guard posted it on social media. The story went viral, and Ellen DeGeneres invited Hoidahl on her talk show, where she gave her a $10,000 check and a new TV.
Last week, the show asked Hoidahl to tape a followup interview at the restaurant. During the taping, a call came in from DeGeneres, telling her she had something for her outside.
With the camera rolling, Hoidahl went out to find a new Hyundai Santa Fe. "I cried for the second time on national television," she said.
She said she's "speechless" at the luck her small act of kindness has brought her. "I can't even put into words the gratitude and love I have, for Ellen especially, and just everyone who is showing me love and support."
