BRENTWOOD — A judge on Monday set a new trial date for a Raymond man accused of murdering 50-year-old Scott Dickinson in March, 2012.
The decision marks the third time a trial date has been set for Damien Tisbert since he was arrested last March for first-degree murder.
Tisbert, 21, was indicted in September, 2012 on first- and second-degree murder charges for allegedly beating and stabbing Dickinson inside his home. The murder occurred March 25, 2012.
Much of Tisbert’s case has remained out of the public light since he was indicted by a grand jury last year. More than a dozen documents submitted by state prosecutors and defense lawyer leading up to the trial have remained under court seal.
An order by Judge Marguerite Wageling released this week says that jury selection for Tisbert’s trial will begin the week of April 21.
Tisbert faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole if he is convicted of first-degree murder.Tisbert is being held at the Rockingham County jail without bail.
