Mix-up changes outcome of Dover school board race: Soule McCammon wins

DOVER – After checking the results from Tuesday’s election, officials determined there was an error in one of the results in the race for school board, according to Karen Lavertu, City Clerk & Tax Collector.

Lavertu said there was a “scribner’s error” on the Ward 3 return of votes.

“The results for Carole Soule McCammon were placed on the return of votes as 299, when the tape clearly shows 397 plus 2 write-in votes equaling 399,” Lavertu said in an email.

As a result, Soule McCammon received a total of 1,794 votes, which put her ahead of Carolyn Mebert, who received 1,704 votes for at-large school board.

She will serve with Amanda Russell, who received 2,288 votes; Sarah Greenshields, who had 2,250; Betsey Andrews-Parker, who received 2,238; Doris Grady, who had 2,206; Kathleen Morrison, who received 2,004 votes; and Michelle Diane Muffet-Lipinski, who had 1,956 votes.

The remaining candidates received the following: David Martin: 1,438, Donald Andolina: 1,412, Rob McCrory: 1,343, Matthew Mayberry: 1,261, Michael Castaldo: 1,201 and Daryl Marma: 298.

“These results will be certified within seven days per charter,” Lavertu said in an email.
