ROCHESTER — After receiving a tip, police believe they found the pickup truck that seriously injured a New Durham man along Route 11 Tuesday evening.

Police, firefighters and emergency personnel responded around 6:45 p.m. after the man was struck by a pickup truck along Farmington Road — Route 11 — across from Hagan’s Motor Pool near the Farmington town line.

The man has been identified as Bernard Cormier Jr., 44, of New Durham, according to Capt. Paul Toussaint.

After receiving a tip Wednesday morning, Toussaint said police seized a truck they believe was involved in the accident. He added police have not identified who was driving the truck, but the matter is still under investigation.

Toussaint said he would not comment whether the seized vehicle had damage consistent with the case.

Cormier — who was found lying in a grassy area just off the road on the westbound travel lane — suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries. He was flown by helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine.

Although Cormier remains at Maine Medical Center, his condition was not available, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

While Toussaint said it was unclear why Cormier was walking along Route 11, police believe he was not in the travel portion of the road.

Police believe he was struck by what was described as being an older model, full-size, dark-colored pickup truck, which was traveling west. As a broken side mirror and directional light were found on the side of the road near the collision site, the truck may have damage to the passenger side, according to police.
