Prep field hockey player taken to hospital after being hit in head

NEW HAMPTON — A 16-year-old girl was flown to a hospital after suffering head injuries when she was hit by a field hockey ball, according to Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Lang.

Lang said the girl, a student at New Hampton School, was hit by the ball while playing field hockey during the prep school's match Saturday afternoon against Brewer Academy.

He said the girl, whose name was not available, was knocked unconscious and was flown to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, for treatment.
