Campbell boys advance in double-OT to win Division III soccer qualifier

Freshman Matt Gagne scored the winner six minutes into the second overtime to give 18th-seeded Campbell of Litchfield a 2-1 win over 15th-seeded Fall Mountain of Langdon in a Division III boys’ soccer qualifier Tuesday.

Campbell’s reward is a Thursday game at second-seeded Bow at 2 p.m.

Fall Mountain scored early and held a 1-0 lead until Zach Perault’s equalizer less than five minutes from the end.

Campbell hit the crossbar twice in its second-overtime flurry, and scored when Christian Wallmeyer crossed to Riley Grant, who tipped the ball into the air, where Gagne nodded it home.
Belmont 4, Monadnock 0: Austin Haddock’s first half unassisted goal was all 13th-seeded Belmont needed to topple 20th-ranked Monadnock of Swanzey.

It was Haddock’s ninth season goal. Belmont pulled away in the second half on goals from Dillon Duclos, Nick Oakes and Colby Pickowicz. Oakes and Joe Boles each had an assist and teammate goalie Jonny LeClair turned back three shots for the shutout win.

Belmont hits the road to face No. 4 Prospect Mountain in Alton on Thursday at 2 p.m. Belmont (9-7-1) lost twice to Prospect Mountain during the regular season, 2-0 and 3-0.
Sanborn 3, Hillsboro-Deering 0: Micah Peterson scored two goals and Kyle Lord added one to lead the Indians. Winning goalie Shaun Howard turned back four shots and Hillcats keeper Connor Lane had seven saves. No. 14 Sanborn improved to 9-8.
