Jack Barre and Eric Neiley scored goals for Dartmouth in the Big Green's 3-2 overtime loss to Princeton in the season opener for the men's hockey team in the Libertty Invitational at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
Princeton took a 2-0 lead through goals from Jack Berger and Ben Foster. Both of Dartmouth's goals came in the third period, including Neiley's tying goal with 37 seconds left in regulation.
Princeton's Tucker Brockett won the game in overtime with a goal 45 seconds into the extra season.
Dartmouth faces off against Yale today at 4 p.m.
UNH 5, UMass Lowell 0: Sophomore forward Lynne Lehman recorded a goal and an assist to fuel the 20th-ranked University of New Hampshire field hockey team to a 5-0 victory against UMass Lowell at Memorial Field on Friday evening.
Wildcat goalkeeper Carlie Tarbell the reigning America East Defensive Player of the Week, extended her shutout streak to a career-best 214 minutes, 54 seconds with a four-save performance. She improved her record to 10-6 on the year.
Lehman finished with a personal-best three points with the goal and assist. Hannah Richard, of Hopkinton, recorded her 50th career point on her eighth goal of the season; she now has 51 career points on 23 goals and five assists. UNH's other goal scorers were Kellie Joyce, Emma Compagna and Molly Heaney, of East Kingston.
SNHU 3, Southern Connecticut State 2: Emma Houlihan had a game-best 16 kills along with three blocks. Nina McGouldrick added 12 kills and 15 digs, while Ashlee Daoust, of Brooklime, tallied 13 kills. Maeghan Higgins led the Penmen defense with 33 digs, and Catherine Cotton dished out a game-high 52 assists.
