LITCHFIELD — Pelham may not know who it will play in its conference championship game, but the Pythons do know where they will play.

Pelham secured first place in Division III South by beating Campbell of Litchfield 48-13 Friday night, and will be the home team when the conference title games are played in in two weeks.

Bow will likely be Pelham’s opponent for that contest, although there is a remote chance that Campbell could advance if it beats Bow next weekend and several other things break Campbell’s way.

Pelham led 14-7 after one quarter, 35-7 at halftime and 42-13 after three quarters.

Pelham raised its record to 7-0 and is one of three unbeaten teams in the state. Division I Concord and Division II Monadnock are the others. Campbell’s record dropped to 5-2.

Perhaps the game’s biggest play was an interception that Zack Conway returned 95 yards for a touchdown with 3:45 remaining in the second quarter. Campbell was threatening to cut its deficit to 14 points at the time, but Conway’s TD and the fifth of Harley Kearney’s six point-after kicks capped the first-half scoring.

Pelham builts its 28-point halftime lead on two Chris Medeiros touchdown runs (20 and 9 yards), quarterback Joe Slattery’s 34-yard TD run, a 14-yard TD pass from Slattery to Conway and Conway’s interception return.

Campbell’s touchdowns came on a 34-yard pass from quarterback Christian McKenna to Kevin Moreau on the Cougars’ first possession, and a 7-yard pass from McKenna to Kyle Kopaczynski with 7:59 left in the third.

Slattery also hooked up with Conway for a 44-yard TD pass that helped Pelham take a 42-13 lead with 3:17 left in the third.

Pelham will finish the regular season unbeaten if it can defeat Farmington-Nute next weekend.
