Two-time Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Bill Sharman died at his home in Redondo Beach, Calif. on Friday, the Los Angeles Lakers announced. He was 87.

Sharman was first inducted into the Hall of Fame as a guard for the Boston Celtics, playing with the team during the dynasty era of the 1950s.

He was inducted for the second time as a coach for the Lakers, leading the team to a 33-game winning streak and NBA championship.

A 6-foot-1 guard, Sharman teamed with Bob Cousy as one of the most highly regarded backcourts in the NBA. Sharman was known for his shooting prowess, leading the Celtics in scoring four different seasons.

Sharman was also a sniper at the free throw line, leading the league a record seven seasons (five in a row).

Sharman was with the Celtics for four NBA titles. He was elected to the Hall of Fame as a player in 1976 and was named one of the 50 greatest players in league history in 1996.

He retired in 1961 and began coaching the Cleveland Pipers in the American Basketball League. After bouncing around after the ABL folded, Sharman would take the Lakers job in 1971, leading the team to a 33-game winning streak and the NBA title. He retired from coaching in 1976 and became general manager of the Lakers, eventually becoming president in 1983 and retiring in 1990.

Sharman was elected to the Hall of Fame for the second time in 2004, this time as a coach. He became the third man to be inducted as both a player and a coach, joining John Wooden and Lenny Wilkens.
