MANCHESTER — A local man who fled to Puerto Rico to try to avoid prosecution on charges he sexually assaulted two girls was sentenced Wednesday to 10 to 30 years in state prison after pleading guilty in Hillsborough County Superior Court to several felony counts of sexual assault, according to a release from Hillsborough County Attorney Patricia LaFrance.
Francisco Vidal, 49, admitted that from July 2009 through March 2012, he sexually assaulted two girls, ages 12 and 6, when they visited his home. When he was questioned by police in March 2012, he claimed that “perhaps his tickling was misconstrued by the girls,” the release said.
Shortly before police were going to arrest him, he left New Hampshire for Puerto Rico, where he was ultimately found by officers from the U.S. Marshal’s Office, the release said.
