Driver OK after truck yanks down power lines in Wakefield

Residents of the Church Street neighborhood, just off Meadow Street in Sanbornville, lost power and cable after a truck hooked the power lines. Wakefield Police Lt. Mark O’Brien said the driver was uninjured, but emergency workers had to wait for PSNH crews to arrive to clear the lines and make sure the power was off. LARISSA MULKERN

WAKEFIELD — A delivery truck driver for Con-Way Freight was trapped in the cab of his truck, but not injured, after the truck he was driving on Church Street yanked down some power, cable and telephone wires and an electrical transformer Tuesday afternoon.

Wakefield Police Department Lt. Mark O'Brien said the driver, whose name was not available, was returning from a delivery at the Paul School when the mishap occurred shortly before 3 p.m.

Members of the Police and Wakefield Fire and Rescue Departments responded to the street, located just off Meadow Street in the village of Sanbornville, blocked off traffic and waited for workers from Public Service of New Hampshire to arrive to clear the live wires.
