BARNSTEAD – A local man driving near his North Barnstead Road home died of head and neck injuries in a car crash sometime between and Friday night and Saturday morning.

Kevin Price, 21, was found in the area of 918 N. Barnstead Road at 7:25 a.m. by town fire and police departments, according to Officer David Scott.

Family members told police they had last heard from Price at 8 p.m. Friday night, and he was found that morning by a neighbor, Scott said.

"He had been there for hours, I'm not sure for how many," said Scott, the investigating officer, declining to elaborate further.

Price was not wearing a seat belt, police said.

His car, a green 1992 BMW 325I, was found upside-down off the north side of the roadway, Scott said.

The section of North Barnstead Road where the crash occurred is not paved and runs in an east-west direction. Price lived in the neighborhood where the crash occurred, he said.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident, he said, nor were there any passengers in the car.

Police are not saying if drugs, alcohol or speed were factors in the case, nor if an autopsy is scheduled, as police are waiting for a standard toxicology report, he said, as well as a report from the Belknap Regional Accident Reconstruction Team.

The car "apparently left the roadway, became airborne and came to rest on its roof," Scott said.

Price was pronounced dead at the scene. The state medical examiner said he died from impact due to massive trauma to the head and neck, despite airbags deploying in the car.
