Timberlane boosters raise money to install scoreboard

PLAISTOW — Installation of a new electronic scoreboard at Timberlane Regional High School is underway.

On Thursday night, the district School Board accepted a gift of $12,000 from the Timberlane Football Boosters to help cover the majority of the installation cost. Previously, the board had approved using $1,400 in district funds to help cover part of the installation.

“Last year, the boosters were able to raise $17,000 to purchase quite an elaborate upgrade to the scoreboard,” said Superintendent Elliot Metzler. “At that time, we were not sure of the installation costs. We found out that it would be quite expensive to do it correctly and have it up to code, so we went back to the boosters and said we needed more money to put it up.”

Working with a number of local businesses, Metzler said the boosters were able to raise the $12,000 within three weeks.

The major contributors for the scoreboard included Access Sports Medicine, Verizon Wireless Zone, State Line Pet Supply, Jaffarian Auto Group, Regan Ford, Insurance Solutions Corp. and HMF Printing.
 
 
“We are grateful for the generosity of all the scoreboard sponsors,” said Metzler. “And the boosters club has done incredible work making sure our fall athletes get to see this board.”
