CONCORD — It's good to be No. 1, and the Concord High School football team looked the part Friday night.

Concord, the top-ranked team in the Union Leader/WGIR/WMUR Power Poll, received three touchdowns from running back Marc Gaudet — two rushing and one receiving — and posted a 34-27 victory over No. 2 Bedford at Memorial Field.

Quarterback Robbie Law tossed two touchdown passes for Concord, which improved its Division I record to 7-0. Bedford dropped to 6-1.

Bedford allowed more points against the Crimson Tide than it did in its first six games (26).

Bedford trailed by 14 points in the fourth quarter, but pulled within a touchdown when quarterback Dan Colella scored from the 1 and Keelan McCoole added the PAT kick with 4:12 left.Bedford moved the ball to the Concord 29 on its final possession before time expired.

Concord led 20-14 after Bedford's Mike Vailas returned a punt 56 yards and McCoole added the point-after kick with 7:20 left in the third, but Concord answered on its next possession. Law capped an 11-play drive by tossing a 4-yard TD pass to Gaudet with 3:23 left in the third.

The Bulldogs responded when Colella hooked up with Nick Vailas for a 30-yard TD with 1:17 remaining in the third. The PAT failed, which left Concord with a 26-20 lead.

The Crimson Tide responded again, however. Law threw a 29-yard TD pass to Seimou Smith and then tossed a completion to Gaudet for the two-point conversion to increase the lead to 34-20 with 10:15 to go in the game.
Bedford struck first on an 84-yard TD run by Aaron Palys with 5:56 left in the opening quarter, but Concord scored the next 20 points and led 20-7 at half.

Concord's TDs came on a 14-yard run by Gaudet, a 3-yard run by Gaudet and an 8-yard pass from Law to Bakir Bascelic. Concord's third TD came with 54.5 seconds left in the half, after Bedford fumbled the ball away on its own 4-yard line.

After failing to connect on his first pass, Law completed his next 10 attempts and finished the half 10 of 11 for 98 yards.

Concord and Nashua South are now the only unbeaten teams remaining in Division I.
