Chiropractor sentenced for false billing attempts
BRENTWOOD — An Exeter chiropractor who tried to collect payments from an insurance carrier for treatment he never delivered received a suspended sentence of 1 1/2 to 5 years in state prison after pleading guilty of theft Wednesday in Rockingham County Superior Court.
Paul J. Loch was also ordered to pay $4,423.10 in restitution to Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, according to a release from the state Attorney General’s Office.
He was also sentenced to pay a $2,000 fine, though half the fine and his prison sentence were suspended pending two years of “good behavior,” the release said.
An audit performed by Anthem found that Loch billed the company for delivery of 11 “Posture Pump” devices to seven patient accounts in 2009 and 2010, but no patient ever received the equipment.
