LOUDON — The Veteran Amputee Golf Association will hold its first tournament, the 2013 Veteran Amputee Golf Classic, at the Loudon Country Club on Saturday, Oct. 19.
The tournament raises awareness of VAGA and funds to help the organization’s purpose.
VAGA was started this year to provide golf instruction, outings, practice opportunities, and to promote camaraderie among veterans who have experienced traumatic amputations.
Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. The tournament will be in a scramble format with teams of four.
The tournament will be followed by dinner, raffles, a silent auction, and fellowship. All of the proceeds go toward helping promote golf to veteran amputees, including providing additional lessons, equipment, golf outings and trips, future events, and the hopes of eventually purchasing a handicapped accessible single-rider golf cart.
