MANCHESTER - The former Lawrence, Mass. man charged with brutally attacking a Bedford couple during an apparent home invasion last fall could not appear at his arraignment here today because he remains jailed out of state.
Charles Normil, 33, could not appear in Hillsborough County Superior Court Wednesday afternoon to answer to the 13-count indictment because he is incarcerated in Essex County jail in Middleton, Mass. while waiting trial in January on another home invasion and burglary in Methuen, Mass. last Dec. 14.
Normil is charged with attempted murder, first- and second-degree assault, four counts of forcible rape, burglary and related charges in connection with the Nov. 24 attack on Dr. Eduardo Quesada, 53, and his wife, Sonia, at their home in Bedford, at 7 Proclamation Court.
Hillsborough County Attorney Patricia LaFrance asked the court for an arrest warrant to be lodged against Normil on the New Hampshire charges in Massachusetts. She said she plans to work with Massachusetts authorities to extradite Normil to New Hampshire.
